Many people and doctors believe that drugs and medicines are the answer to easing the pain of arthritis. But many herbalists believe that you don’t need medications or supplements to help with the pain. They believe that acupuncture may be able to help.

The acupuncturist is the person who performs the session. They take needles and soak them in alcohol to sterilize them, they then take the needle and insert it into your skin in the location of the pain. They use different amount of needles on each person but with each pin and it’s location the needles are inserted a little deeper into the skin.

Once all the pins are placed in the skin they are then left there from anywhere from ten minutes to an hour. During the session, the pins are spun and energized to increase the strength of the needles. The pins are electrically charged with little electricity, you may feel a tingle sensation after the electricity is applied. If you feel uncomfortable let them know and they can take them out.

If in the first session you don’t feel like the pain has gotten any less then on the next session the acupuncturist can adjust them and move them around and get the right location of the pain.

Acupuncture is great for people who are under a lot of stress and after they have a treatment they swear by it. The needles may throw you off because it looks like it hurts but they are trained professionals and they know how to insert the pins as not to hurt you.
